Master of Film Design is an elite, conservatory-level two-year graduate program that transforms already accomplished directors, cinematographers, production designers, editors, and screenwriters into world-class auteur filmmakers and creative producers who conceive, design, finance, shoot, and complete feature-length narrative films, documentary series, and high-end television dramas that premiere at Cannes, Berlinale, Venice, Toronto, Sundance, and Turkey’s Golden Orange while securing Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, and international sales-agent deals that place Turkish cinema firmly on the global map.From the first semester students work at full professional scale under active masters who have credits at the world’s top festivals (Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Semih Kaplanoğlu, Derviş Zaim, Reha Erdem, Yeşim Ustaoğlu, and international guests from Berlinale Talents and Cannes Cinéfondation): advanced cinematography with ARRI Alexa 65, RED Monstro, and Venice-winning lenses; production design for period and fantasy worlds using full-scale built sets; non-linear storytelling and advanced screenwriting (three-act, five-act, sequence approach, hero’s journey reinterpreted); professional color grading and DI workflow in DaVinci Resolve 18; Dolby Atmos sound design and mixing; VFX-heavy sequence previsualization with Unreal Engine; festival and market strategy (Cannes Marché, Berlinale CoPro, Toronto Industry, AFM); international co-production treaties and gap financing; and creative producing from script to worldwide delivery.Each student directs at least two thesis-level short films with full professional crew and equipment, then develops, packages, and shoots a complete feature-length thesis film (90–120 minutes) fully funded by the program in collaboration with Turkey’s leading production companies (Ay Yapım, O3 Medya, TMC, 25 Film, Liman Film) and international partners (ZeynoFilm, UnaFilm Germany, MPM Premium France). These thesis films regularly premiere in A-list festival competition (Cannes Critics’ Week, Venice Orizzonti, Locarno, Karlovy Vary, San Sebastián New Directors, Golden Orange Best Film) and secure theatrical distribution and streaming deals worth millions.Graduates instantly become the new generation of Turkish auteur directors whose films represent the country in Oscar and European Film Award submissions, creative producers who package $5–20 million international co-productions, cinematographers and production designers sought by both Turkish series giants and European arthouse productions, and festival programmers or heads of film funds at TRT, Ministry of Culture, and Istanbul Film Festival.
