The Special Education Teaching (Turkish) undergraduate program at Eastern Mediterranean University is designed to develop highly qualified special education teachers capable of providing instruction to children with a variety of special needs. The curriculum emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including instructional methods, behavioral analysis, assessment and diagnosis of intellectual and learning disabilities, and educational programming for children with autism spectrum disorders. Students are also trained in early intervention, contemporary issues in special education, and program management. Practical experience is integrated throughout the program, allowing students to work in diverse educational settings. Graduates are prepared for careers as special education teachers in state and private schools, special education institutions, rehabilitation centers, and counseling centers associated with the Ministry of Education in Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Additionally, graduates may take on administrative roles in educational settings or pursue further specialization at the postgraduate level, opening pathways to roles as experts or academics in the field. The program fosters a strong ethical foundation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and commitment to ongoing professional development, making graduates well-suited to advocate for and support individuals with special educational needs in a variety of contexts.[2][5][1][4]
