Program Overview

Bachelor of Nursing (English), Halic University

The Bachelor of Nursing in English is a four-year undergraduate health sciences program that trains highly competent, compassionate, and globally-minded professional nurses who can provide evidence-based, patient-centered care in hospitals, clinics, community settings, and international health organizations while assuming leadership roles in nursing practice, education, and research. Offered at the nursing faculties of Turkey’s most prestigious universities (Koç University, Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University, Bahçeşehir University, Yeditepe University, Üsküdar University, Istanbul Aydın University, Medipol University, Biruni University, Hacettepe University English track, and several other strong English-medium programs), it is the most internationally recognized nursing degree in the country and attracts students who aim to work abroad or in Turkey’s top private and university hospitals.Students receive a modern, integrated, and clinically intensive education that fully meets European Union and international accreditation standards. The first two years combine theoretical foundations with early clinical exposure through courses in anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, pathology, health assessment, fundamentals of nursing, nursing ethics and professionalism, evidence-based practice, communication and therapeutic relationships, nutrition, public health nursing, epidemiology, research methods, and English medical terminology. From the third year onward, students undertake extensive supervised clinical practice in university hospitals and affiliated training centers with specialty rotations in internal medicine nursing, surgical nursing, pediatric nursing, obstetric and gynecological nursing, psychiatric nursing, critical care nursing, emergency nursing, operating-room nursing, oncology nursing, community and home-care nursing, and management/leadership in nursing. More than 2,300 hours of direct patient-contact clinical practice are completed across all major departments, using high-fidelity simulation laboratories, standardized patients, and real hospital wards from the very first year.Graduates receive the title of Registered Nurse (B.S.N.) and are immediately eligible for the national licensing examination. They are preferentially hired by Turkey’s most prestigious university hospitals (Koç American Hospital, Acıbadem Healthcare Group, Memorial Hospitals, Medicana International, Florence Nightingale Hospitals, Medical Park, Liv Hospital), private and public city hospitals, international-standard luxury clinics, Turkish Armed Forces health services, and increasingly work abroad in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Canada, Australia, Gulf countries, and Northern Europe after passing the relevant licensing exams (NCLEX-RN, CGFNS, NMC-UK, etc.). Many graduates quickly advance to charge nurse, clinical educator, infection-control nurse, quality manager, or nursing director positions, while others pursue master’s and doctoral degrees in nursing science, becoming university lecturers, researchers, or advanced-practice nurses.Salaries in top private hospitals and abroad are among the highest of all health professions at undergraduate level, with significant additional income from shift differentials, on-call payments, and private duty nursing. The social prestige of English-medium nursing graduates has risen dramatically: they are seen as the new face of professional, scientific, and compassionate nursing in Turkey, enjoying deep respect both domestically and internationally as representatives of a modern, globally competitive healthcareworkforce.Inn short, the Bachelor of Nursing in English produces confident, clinically excellent, and culturally competent nurses who occupy leadership positions in the most respected hospitals and health systems worldwide, enjoying outstanding career mobility, financial reward, lifelong learning opportunities, and the profound satisfaction of making a tangible difference in human lives every single day.
