The Bachelor of Environmental Engineering at Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) equips students with theoretical and practical knowledge to address environmental challenges such as water and wastewater treatment, air pollution control, waste management, and sustainable resource planning. The program spans four academic years (eight semesters), covering foundational courses in general and environmental chemistry, fluid mechanics, statistics, hydrology, environmental microbiology, solid waste management, thermodynamics, and environmental modeling. Students are also exposed to design of water treatment plants and chemical reaction engineering. The curriculum is enhanced by elective and capstone project options, and supported by bilingual education: while the core language is Turkish, some electives may be offered in English. Graduates can pursue careers in public and private sectors, such as environmental consultancy firms, governmental agencies, industrial plants, NGOs, and research centers. There are also opportunities for further academic study both within Turkey and internationally. The robust structure prepares graduates for critical roles in addressing current and future environmental issues, contributing to sustainable development initiatives and compliance with national and international standards.
