The Associate of Orthopedic Prostheses and Ortheses program is a full-time, 2-year vocational degree focused on training skilled technicians proficient in designing, manufacturing, and fitting orthopedic prosthetic and orthotic devices. The curriculum is designed to address the practical demands of the healthcare sector, particularly in the rapidly evolving field of assistive device technology. Students undertake a blend of theoretical coursework in health and engineering sciences, alongside applied courses and significant clinical internship experience in affiliated hospitals. The program comprises at least 120 ECTS, distributed over four semesters. Core subjects include biomechanics, clinical anatomy, and prosthesis-orthosis design and production. Active participation in workshops and internships ensures students gain hands-on experience with real patients and advanced workshop equipment. Graduates receive the professional title of 'Prosthetics and Orthotics Technician' and are prepared for direct employment in public and private hospitals, universities, or specialized laboratories. They may also open private workshops or pursue further studies via national vertical transfer exams. The program’s strong clinical partnerships and unique academic infrastructure make it a standout within Turkey. Continuous developments in prosthetic and orthotic technology underpin strong career prospects for graduates, both domestically and internationally.[1][3][4]
