Associate of Medical Laboratory Techniques (Turkish), Istanbul Arel University
The Associate of Medical Laboratory Techniques (Turkish) program is designed to train qualified medical laboratory technicians capable of performing laboratory analyses in both public and private healthcare institutions. The two-year curriculum emphasizes both theoretical and practical training, covering the use of modern laboratory devices, application of up-to-date laboratory techniques, and understanding of clinical laboratory sciences including biochemistry, microbiology, and serology. Students learn to assist physicians in the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of diseases, and gain essential skills in preparing and analyzing medical samples. The curriculum includes on-campus courses and hands-on laboratory practice in associated teaching hospitals or university laboratories. During the fourth semester, students typically complete a summer internship of around 30 working days in clinical laboratories to gain practical experience. Career prospects for graduates are strong, with opportunities in state and private hospitals, research centers, medical faculties, diagnostic laboratories, and the medical and food industries. Graduates also have the option to continue their education through vertical transfer to undergraduate programs such as Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Bioengineering, and Nursing, provided they pass the national transfer exam. The program aims to produce professionals who prioritize patient well-being, adhere to professional ethics, are adaptable to technological advancements, and are capable of teamwork in high-paced clinical environments[1][2][3][4][5].
