The Bachelor of English Language Teaching (English) at Cyprus Aydın University is a four year undergraduate teacher education program designed to prepare highly qualified English language teachers for primary, secondary, and higher education institutions. The program combines linguistic knowledge, pedagogical training, and extensive teaching practice to equip graduates with the professional competencies required in modern language education. During the first years of study, students develop a strong foundation in linguistics, English grammar, phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, discourse analysis, and language acquisition theories. These courses strengthen students’ academic understanding of language structure and usage while enhancing their own proficiency in English. As the program progresses, students focus on teaching methodology, curriculum design, classroom management, language assessment and evaluation, educational psychology, instructional technologies, and material development for English language classrooms. Emphasis is placed on communicative language teaching approaches, learner centered instruction, inclusive education practices, and the integration of digital tools in language teaching. A significant component of the program is practical training. Students complete school observation courses and supervised teaching practice in real classroom environments, gradually taking responsibility for lesson planning, classroom instruction, and student assessment under mentor supervision. This hands on experience ensures professional readiness upon graduation. The English medium instruction allows students to engage directly with international academic literature and global teaching standards. Graduates are awarded the title of English Language Teacher and may pursue teaching careers in public and private schools, language centers, international institutions, or continue to postgraduate studies in applied linguistics, education, or related fields. English language teaching remains a strategically important profession due to the global role of English in education, business, and international communication. The program prepares graduates to contribute effectively to language education with strong pedagogical competence and cultural awareness.
