Halic University

The Associate of Civil Aviation Management is a career-oriented two-year vocational degree specifically created to supply the rapidly expanding Turkish and international aviation sector with well-trained operational and administrative professionals who can start working immediately in airlines, airports, ground handling companies, cargo operators, civil aviation authorities, and related tourism enterprises without requiring lengthy additional training periods. Offered by vocational schools of prominent universities across Turkey such as Anadolu, Eskişehir Technical, Γ–zyeğin, Δ°stanbul AydΔ±n, Kapadokya, and many state universities with strong industry partnerships, the program is designed and continuously updated in close cooperation with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM), Turkish Airlines, Pegasus Airlines, TAV Airports, Γ‡elebi Ground Handling, Havaş, Δ°GA Istanbul Airport, Turkish Technic, and the Airport Managers Association to reflect current national and international regulations including EASA, ICAO Annexes, IATA standards, and Turkish Sivil HavacΔ±lΔ±k Kanunu requirements. Students graduate fully prepared to obtain essential industry licenses and certificates such as the Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate (IATA Category 6), Ground Operations and Ramp Safety Certificate, Aviation Security (AVSEC) Level 1 and 2, Passenger Services Certificate, and SHGM-approved station representative qualifications, credentials that are mandatory for employment in almost every aviation-related position in Turkey.During the program, students acquire a comprehensive blend of aviation-specific technical knowledge, regulatory expertise, customer service excellence, and digital management skills that mirror daily airport and airline operations. They study air transportation economics, airline fleet planning, route profitability analysis, airport master planning, air traffic flow management, and aviation meteorology to understand how commercial decisions affect safety and efficiency. Detailed courses on aviation law and regulations cover national legislation, bilateral air service agreements, passenger rights (SHY-PASSENGER), liability conventions (Montreal and Warsaw), and security programs mandated by ICAO Annex 17. Practical training includes ticketing and reservation systems using global distribution platforms such as Amadeus, Sabre, and Galileo, enabling students to issue tickets, manage PNRs, apply fare rules, process refunds, and handle reissues according to IATA Billing and Settlement Plan procedures. Ground handling modules teach passenger check-in and boarding processes, baggage handling and reconciliation using BHS and BRS systems, aircraft weight and balance calculation, load sheet preparation, ramp safety, pushback procedures, and ULD management. Airport operations courses focus on terminal management, security screening coordination, VIP/CIP services, lost and found procedures, and emergency response planning under ICAO Annex 14. Cargo and logistics training covers air waybill preparation, dangerous goods acceptance according to IATA DGR, special cargo handling (pharmaceuticals, live animals, perishables), and customs procedures at air borders. Strong emphasis is placed on customer experience management, crisis communication, complaint handling under EU 261 and Turkish passenger rights regulations, and multicultural service standards required by millions of international passengers transiting Turkish hubs. Language training, especially Aviation English meeting at least ICAO Level 4 standards, business English, and often a second foreign language, is integrated throughout the curriculum. Mandatory workplace internships totaling at least 30 to 60 working days at airports such as Istanbul Airport, Sabiha GΓΆkΓ§en, Antalya, Ankara Esenboğa, or with airlines and handling agents provide supervised real-world experience where students rotate through check-in counters, arrival halls, operations control centers, and ramp areas under licensed supervisors.Graduates enjoy outstanding employment opportunities and high social prestige because Turkey has transformed into one of the world's fastest-growing aviation markets and a major global transit hub connecting Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Major employers including Turkish Airlines (which alone hires hundreds of station and airport staff annually), Pegasus, SunExpress, Corendon, AJet, TAV Airports, Δ°GA, Γ‡elebi, Havaş, Turkish Ground Services, MNG Cargo, and regional airports actively recruit associate-degree holders for positions such as passenger services agent, check-in officer, arrival and transfer supervisor, operations officer, load control specialist, cargo acceptance staff, VIP services representative, and documentation agent with starting monthly salaries ranging from 35,000 to 55,000 Turkish lira plus extensive benefits packages including discounted and free flight tickets, private health insurance, and shift premiums in 2025. The continuous expansion of Istanbul Airport as the world's largest single-terminal facility, new airport openings, and the growth of low-cost and leisure carriers create thousands of new positions every year, while the Turkish government’s regional aviation development policy ensures employment opportunities even in smaller cities such as Izmir, Dalaman, Bodrum, Trabzon, and Gaziantep. Many graduates quickly advance to station supervisor, shift leader, training officer, or revenue management assistant roles within three to five years, earning well above national averages. The international recognition of Turkish aviation training standards allows graduates to find positions abroad with Turkish Airlines stations worldwide, Middle Eastern carriers, or European handling companies. Society accords these professionals considerable respect because they represent the friendly and efficient face of Turkey to millions of tourists and business travelers, contribute directly to the country's position as a global aviation powerhouse, and work in prestigious environments wearing recognizable uniforms at gateways that symbolize modernity and connectivity. The combination of immediate job security, attractive salaries and travel benefits, clear career progression paths, continuous professional development through mandatory recurrent training, and the excitement of working in one of the most dynamic industries makes the Associate of Civil Aviation Management one of the most sought-after and socially admired two-year degrees in Turkey today, perfectly suited for energetic individuals who want to build rewarding lifelong careers in an industry that literally keeps the world connected.
