The Bachelor of Medicine program at the Izmir Faculty of Medicine aims to train physicians equipped with comprehensive theoretical knowledge and practical skills, aligned with international medical standards. The curriculum is fully integrated and competence-based, spanning six years (360 ECTS). The first three years prioritize biomedical sciences, the structure and function of systems, basic pathologies, and an introduction to clinical sciences, delivered through course boards. The second and third years expand this knowledge while strengthening clinical connections. Years four and five are dedicated to internships in clinical settings, enabling students to enhance their professional competencies through direct patient care and supervised practice. The final, sixth year consists entirely of a rotating internship, furthering hands-on experience and readiness for independent medical practice. Students can choose electives and are encouraged to participate in research. Graduates earn the title of Medical Doctor, preparing them for clinical practice, medical research, and further specialization. The university emphasizes ethical practice, critical reasoning, and continued professional development, ensuring graduates are well-positioned for careers as practitioners in Turkey or to pursue advanced medical studies.
