The Bachelor of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at Dokuz Eylül University is designed to educate engineers who can design, manufacture, and analyze engineering materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, and composites. The curriculum encompasses both theoretical and applied sciences, with core courses in materials science, materials characterization, metallurgical thermodynamics, physical and chemical metallurgy, and foundry technology. The department supports learning with 15 established laboratories and provides a 30% English language education component. Students are also required to take basic science courses and a selection of social/technical electives, preparing them for the interdisciplinary nature of the field. The program emphasizes problem-solving, research and development, and the application of energy, cost, and environmental considerations throughout a material's life cycle. Graduates are prepared for careers in materials production, quality control, R&D, and various industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing. They are also equipped with teamwork and communication skills and a strong sense of professional ethics and environmental responsibility, making them valuable in both national and international contexts.
