The Medical Imaging Techniques Program at Fırat University Health Services Vocational School is a 2-year associate degree program based within the university’s main campus. Established in 1990, it is designed to train healthcare technicians who operate medical imaging devices and support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The curriculum combines both theoretical classes and hands-on practical training in the Radiology Department of the university’s Faculty of Medicine Hospitals, exposing students to a variety of imaging modalities such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Computed Tomography, Conventional Radiology, and Interventional Radiology. Courses address patient preparation, image acquisition, radiation safety, equipment maintenance, and the legal/ethical responsibilities in medical imaging. Students must complete 120 ECTS and maintain a minimum GPA of 2.00 (out of 4.00). The goal of the program is to graduate competitive professionals with both technical and communication skills using modern technological resources. Graduates receive the title of 'Medical Imaging and Techniques Technician' and are eligible for employment in the public and private healthcare sectors, including hospitals and diagnostic imaging centers. There are career advancement opportunities through vertical transfer examinations to related undergraduate healthcare programs, such as Nursing or Health Management[1][2][3][4][5].
