Bachelor of Special Education Teaching is a highly respected, clinically intensive four-year undergraduate program that trains graduates to become expert Special Education Teachers who professionally assess, plan, teach, and rehabilitate children and adolescents with intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, hearing and visual impairments, specific learning disabilities, speech-language disorders, physical disabilities, emotional-behavioral disorders, and giftedness in special education schools, rehabilitation centers, source rooms within mainstream schools, and private special education institutions throughout Turkey.From the first semester, students master the entire special education curriculum required by the Ministry of National Education: child development and atypical development, individualized education programs (IEP), functional assessment and curriculum adaptation, evidence-based teaching methods (TEACCH, ABA, PECS, sensory integration, structured teaching), behavior management and positive behavior support, assistive technology and AAC devices, braille and sign language, inclusive education practices, family counseling, and Turkish special education legislation (Decree-Law 573, BİLSEM regulations). Demand is extremely high due to expanding inclusive education policies and growing private rehabilitation sector.Salaries in private centers rank among the highest of all teaching professions; experienced special education teachers in Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir, and Antalya frequently exceed regular classroom teachers and even many university lecturers.
