The Bachelor of Dentistry (Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Lisans Programı) is a comprehensive five-year integrated undergraduate degree (leading directly to the title of Dentist) offered by Turkey’s most prestigious medical faculties including Hacettepe, İstanbul, Ankara, Gazi, Ege, Marmara, Başkent, Medipol, İstanbul Aydın, Biruni, Bezmialem, and over thirty state and foundation universities, designed to produce fully qualified general dentists who can immediately register with the Turkish Dental Association and open private practices or work in public/private hospitals upon graduation. From the fourth year onward students treat real patients under supervision in university dental hospitals that collectively serve hundreds of thousands of patients annually, performing complete treatment plans including aesthetic composite restorations, root-canal treatments, ceramic crowns and veneers, implant placement, surgical extractions, periodontal flap surgeries, and orthodontic alignments. Integrated theoretical courses cover oral pathology, oral medicine, dental pharmacology, implantology, laser dentistry, sedation techniques, practice management, ethics, and forensic odontology. Research training culminates in a graduation thesis, often published in SCI-indexed journals. All students rotate through specialized clinics (maxillofacial surgery, special-needs dentistry, geriatric dentistry) and complete mandatory rural service preparation modules.
